Chinese fisherman reels in massive 6-foot swamp eel

TANTAI, China, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- A Chinese fisherman proudly showed off his unique catch after reeling in a massive swamp eel measuring nearly 6 1/2 feet long.

A video filmed Tuesday in Tantai, Shandong Province, shows the fisherman proudly holding his catch.

The animal was identified as a swamp eel, a species native to Asia, and it measured nearly 6 1/2 feet long.

Swamp eels, also known as rice eels, average about 3 1/4 feet long.
