Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe CHIRIACO SUMMIT, Calif., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- A California Highway Patrol officer was assisted by animal services personnel in rounding up a group of loose pigs on the interstate. A series of photos posted to Facebook by the Riverside County Animal Services' Coachella Valley Animal Campus shows the large pigs after they were rounded up from the median of Interstate 10, about a mile west of the Chiriaco Summit. Advertisement The post said the man driving the vehicle pulling the trailer of pigs told the CHP and animal services officers the trailer started to swerve and the problem only got worse when he tried slowing down, leading him to attempt an abrupt stop. The eight pigs fled the trailer when the vehicle stopped about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and started running around the highway median. Animal services officers said none of the pigs were injured. The pigs were taken to the Blythe Animal Shelter before being released back to their owner, whose property is located near the shelter.
