Couples gathered at Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Over Texas, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Six Flags St. Louis to attempt the record as part of Six Flags' Holiday in the Park celebration.
"Six Flags really outdid itself this year by making history and celebrating the holidays by bringing people together from coast to coast to set a new world record," Guinness World Records official adjudicator Christina Conlon said.
All of the couples were required to join hands and kiss for at least 10 seconds to claim the record.
Some couples decided to take the event beyond a simple smooch as one couple proposed during the event and another was married.
