YAMAGUCHI, Japan, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- A Japanese pet owner discovered an unusual feature of her iPhone's Touch ID -- it can be unlocked using her hedgehog's paw print.

A video posted to Twitter by user @ha_ri_ay shows the woman repeatedly placing her hedgehog's paw on the home button of an iPhone 7 to register the animal's print for Touch ID, which allows a user to unlock the phone with their fingerprint.

The phone allows the hedgehog's paw print to be registered and the woman shows how her pet can now unlock the phone with his paw.

The Touch ID system was designed for a human finger, but the Twitter user wasn't the first to find it can register other things -- an Oregon tech blogger using the first generation of Touch ID for the iPhone 5s was able to unlock his phone using the print from his genitals.
