"It was interesting. We drove into the yard after bringing our daughter to the airport, and at about 7:00 this morning there stood a moose with the three cows just calm as could be," Tim Abbott told WCAX-TV.
"I think she was looking for companionship," Abbott told NECN.
The female moose came particularly close to cows Primrose and Precious, but only Primrose appeared to share the moose's fascination, going nose-to-nose with the moose.
"The brown one was scared to death of her," Tim Abbott said of Precious.
The Abbotts said they eventually had to shoo the moose, dubbed Molly by a neighborhood child, away from their property. The couple said they didn't want the moose to get trapped or cause damage to their fence.
"We watch for her every day, thinking she might show up again," Abbott said.
