"One of my workers actually called me and he said there is a deer in your building," owner of the Meraki Academy of Cosmetology salon Lindsey Hughes said. "I'm glad it's over with."
Employee Rhett Bulman told WAFF he was putting up sheetrock on the building when he spotted the deer out of the corner of his eye.
"The next thing I know, something knocked my ladder behind me. And I looked back and I'd seen a tail end of a deer run all the way through here and through there and I just took off through the back door," Bulman said.
The deer was trapped inside the building for two hours as it repeatedly attempted to charge the front window until being led out by police.
"I've never had a call like this,"Sheffield Police Officer Casey Corbett said. "It was pretty crazy. There was a lot of figuring out what we were gonna do next."
The deer sprinted out of the area and police confirmed it managed make it to a safe place in the woods.
The building suffered little damage but a woman who was startled by the deer fell and broke her nose and was taken to the hospital.
