Oregon State Police later advised Eugene police to stay away from the bear so it would not be startled and would head back to the woods.

As the night went on police continued to receive multiple reports of the bear in various locations including a church parking lot and several backyards.

"In all it generated four calls, and foraged in yards, knocking over a couple of fences as it traveled," police said.

Police did not capture the bear and warned residents to be aware of the animal and other wildlife in the area.

"This is a reminder for people in that area to be observant and keep their children and pets close when recreating in natural areas," police said.
