RICHMOND, Va., Oct. 20 (UPI) -- A Virginia news anchor is going viral on social media after a teleprompter typo led him to give a baffling instruction: "Check your panties."

Eric Philips, an anchor for WWBT-TV in Richmond, was delivering a report Wednesday morning on a rice cooker recall when he arrived at the word "pantries," which was missing an all-important letter "r."

"Check your panties," Philips says in the clip, "about 175,000 rice -- I think that was supposed to be 'pantries.'"

The error caused Philips and the rest of the morning news crew to erupt in laughter.

Co-anchor Karla Redditte says she noticed the error, but not in enough time to warn Philips.

The clip went viral online Wednesday, culminating in an auto-tuned "remix" that turned Philips' gaffe into a song.
