ABERDEEN, Md., Oct. 13 (UPI) -- High school students taking a boat tour in Maryland were treated to an encounter with a unique part of the area's ecosystem -- a massive blue crab.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation said a group of Aberdeen High School students were taking a tour in a converted work boat called the Snow Goose on Sept. 27 when Capt. Ian Robbins caught the massive blue crab while collecting samples.

The foundation shared photos of the amazed students holding the unusually large blue crab.

The group said the crab was caught on the Susquehanna Flats and was returned to its habitat by the students and boat crew.
