DETROIT, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- Detroit police said they are investigating a driver's video of a person in a creepy clown costume clinging to the back of a moving city bus.

A video posted to YouTube by user 23PACMAN23 shows what appears to be a man riding on the back of a Detroit Department of Transportation bus on a city street while amazed onlookers film from a nearby car.

"It's a [expletive] clown! Get the [expletive] out of here!" a person in the car can be heard saying.

DDOT released a statement saying it was concerned about the stowaway clown's safety and that of the bus' paying passengers.

"The safety of our riders is DDOT's number one priority and that is why we have significantly increased our Transit Police presence and have installed surveillance cameras inside and outside of all of our DDOT coaches. We have forwarded the video to the Detroit Police Department for review."

A police spokesman said the video is under investigation.

The clown's identity has yet to be confirmed, but a YouTube commenter pointed out the costume was similar to one worn in a recent post by Instagram prankster @g_dulla_mulla, whose latest video ends with him wearing a clown suit and clinging to the back of a Detroit city bus. The video was removed from Instagram Tuesday morning and the account appears to have been closed.
