DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- A viral video is causing a stir in Dubai due to its unusual subject matter -- five tiger frolicking in the waves of a beach.

Reza Khan, head wildlife specialist for the Dubai Zoo/Safari, said there were no reports to authorities about big cats running loose an any public beaches in recent days.

"First of all, we cannot determine whether the beach is a private or a public one. If it was filmed on the public beach, it would have put the public's safety at risk," Khan told Gulf News.

Khan said it is legal to own such exotic creatures in Dubai, but only with the proper permits.

Online commenters speculated the video may have been recorded on a stretch of Jumeira Beach at one of the private palaces along King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street.
