KALAMAZOO, Mich., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- A thunder storm forced a college lacrosse game to end early so both teams decided to settle the contest by playing rock-paper-scissors.

Western Michigan University and Dayton University turned to the unorthodox method of deciding the game after lightning forced the two teams off the field.

"Due to lightning the Dayton and WMU game was settled with a best out of 3 rock- paper- scissors match," WMU's lacrosse team wrote on their Instagram page.

WMU were victorious in the first round after its representative chose scissors over Dayton's paper.

The two competitors then experienced two subsequent draws as they both selected paper and then rock.

The match ultimately ended on the non-draw when WMU selected paper versus Dayton's rock, thus sealing the win.
