New Orleans man untangles turtle from fishing line, dog shows up to 'help'

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- A man working to free a turtle from some fishing line in New Orleans received some "help" from a curious dog that swam up to his boat.

The video, posted to YouTube by M. Hood Fishing, shows the fisherman attempting to use a tree branch to help a turtle tangled in some discarded fishing line while a dog swims nearby.

"This turtle appears to be hung up on something," the filmer says. "Like some fishing line was wrapped around it. And me and this dog are out here trying to free it without getting bit."

The dog, named Sissy, swims around the turtle curiously while her apparent owners watch from nearby.

The man is eventually able to hook the branch on the fishing line and pull the turtle to shore, where he untangles it.

"Thanks for helping, Sissy," the man says after removing the line from the turtle's neck.

The turtle scurries back out into the water -- with Sissy in hot pursuit.

"Found a turtle tangled in fishing line and a dog showed up to 'help,'" the uploader wrote.
