"I'm sure the officers up in the helicopter believed that the driver might have been impaired, or that they may have been looking to commit a criminal offense like a break-and-enter," a police spokesman says in a follow-up video, also posted to YouTube.
However, a ground unit conducted a traffic stop and discovered the real reason for the man's erratic driving -- he was playing the augmented reality game Pokemon Go.
"Officers spoke with the driver who advised that he was just out to catch them all," the video's description reads.
The driver was not ticketed, but he "received a stern warning from officers on the potential dangers of driving while distracted," police said.
