LA CRESCENTA, Calif., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- A California couple captured video of the garbage-eating bear that has been terrorizing their neighborhood and making repeat visits to their yard.

A video recorded last week by Steve and Christy Lipscomb shows the bear rummaging through trash at their La Crescenta home.

The couple attempt to shoo the bear, nicknamed "Blondie" by locals, away from their trash, but the large animal turns its attention to them and lunges, causing them to quickly flee and close their door.

"It was a just a quick split second of adrenaline rush," Steve Lipscomb told KABC-TV. "I closed the door real quick. It was scary for a second."

The couple said the bear has been spotted in their neighborhood at least six times, including one occasion when their son was on a backyard swing and had to quickly flee inside.

The couple said police and game wardens have repeatedly responded to the area, but Blondie has proven difficult to capture.

"The problem is they have a really hard time getting the truck, getting the cage and getting the personnel out here so they can dart the bear, get it into the cage and transport it back," Steve Lipscomb explained.

"I hope the bear is finally tranquilized and taken to a place where it can live and not get around the neighborhood and terrorize the neighborhood because there are a lot of people who are concerned," he said.
