PLYMOUTH, Mass., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- A lobsterman hauled in a trap containing an incredibly rare blue lobster while fishing off of Massachusetts.

Wayne Nickerson's wife Jan Nickerson shared a photo of the blue lobster among a trap full of red and brown lobsters he caught off Plymouth on Monday morning.

"This is what we had hoped; that his beauty and how amazing nature is, could be seen by people who don't experience the same things local fisherman observe," Nickerson said of the photo of her husband's catch.

New England Aquarium spokesman Tony LaCasse told the Boston Globe the odds of catching a blue lobster are about one in two million, however the lobster Nickerson affectionately named "Bleu" was the second he had caught in his 35-years of lobster fishing.

In her Facebook post Nickerson said Bleu was taken to a "nice cool tank" and will be cared for and monitored by marine biologists.
