BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- A German flight attendant adopted a dog from halfway across the world after the dog became smitten with her during her various trips to Argentina.

According to the Dodo, Olivia Sievers first encountered the dog while walking to her hotel in Buenos Aires.

"I tried to change my way because I didn't want that he follow me back to the hotel," she said. "But it was not possible. He always came back and followed me. I tried one hour, but he always watched me and followed me. He was really happy that somebody gave him attention."

Sievers gave the dog some food and attention before entering the hotel and later provided him with an airline blanket as he waited outside the hotel all night.

She returned to Argentina several times in the coming months and was greeted by the dog, who she named Rubio, outside of her hotel every time.

Sievers even made arrangements with a rescue group to have Rubio sent to another family, but he ultimately ran away to wait for her eventual return.

After several months of deliberation Sievers decided to adopt Rubio and worked with Argentinian rescue group Responsible Pet Adoptions Puerto Madero to have him flown to Germany, where they now live happily together.
