GOREY, Ireland, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Police in an Irish town surprised onlookers when they pulled over a "flying saucer" after a slow-speed chase -- but the situation was not as it seemed.

The "flying saucer," which actually rolled on wheels, was filmed flitting through a playground in Gorey shortly before witnesses recorded police engaging the strange vehicle in a slow-speed chase.

The craft was pulled over, but the creator of the flying saucer, Ali Kemal Ali, revealed the police chase was a stunt to promote a space-themed art exhibition.

"They loved it. They were brilliant. How often do you go into a police station and ask for something like this -- it's always doom and gloom. They saw the funny side of it," he was quoted as saying by Sky News.

Ali said his craft is actually composed of a flying saucer frame atop two electric scooters and outfitted with a strobe light, smoke machine and laser lights.
