LUTON, England, July 26 (UPI) -- A man in England seeking to take advantage of a deal wound up paying a hefty fine after police say his vehicle was weighed down by nearly 2,000 pounds of rice.

BCH Road Policing shared a photo of the silver compact car filled with large bags of basmati rice and warned citizens to be conscious of their vehicles' limitations while transporting heavy loads.

"If you need to carry 800kg [1,764lb] of rice, choose a suitable vehicle," they wrote. "This isn't it. Dangerously overweight."

Police told the BBC that the man was fined 300 pounds ($394) for attempting to carry the massive rice haul in his vehicle after buying several large bags on sale from a local store.

"The driver found he could buy 20kg [44lb] bags of rice from a cash and carry for 15.49 [pounds] so bought 40 bags totalling 800kg [1,764lb],"police said.

Police stopped the driver once and let him off with a warning, but he was later stopped for a second time, which resulted in the fine.
