Heron's dropped fish sparks small shark feeding frenzy

MEERU ISLAND, Maldives, June 9 (UPI) -- A visitor to the Maldives captured video of a heron watching a group of small sharks in a feeding frenzy from a fish abandoned by the bird.

The video shows a heron on Meeru Island standing next to a large fish that the uploader said the bird had just caught but apparently found to be too large.

The heron watches as the tide reclaims the fish, which then catches the attention of several small sharks that go into a feeding frenzy.

The bird continues to watch calmly while taking care not to get caught by the teeth of the feasting predators.
