HOUSTON, June 9 (UPI) -- The mastermind behind a viral video of two men playing basketball in the middle of a busy Houston road said the stunt was only meant to be a joke.

The video, posted by Instagram user @MyHouseIsDirty, shows the user and his cousin, @IsaleFoodStamps, playing a round of basketball with a toy plastic hoop on an on-ramp to Interstate 45 at Broadway in Houston.

"I don't think it's OK, but I think it's funny," the prankster, who did not want to be identified by name, told KTRK-TV. "I apologize from the heart. I wasn't here to hurt nobody."

The man said the video shoot May 31 was not without complications resulting from the heavy traffic.

"Some guy ran over the goal and drug it for maybe like ten seconds," he said. "We had to run and chase him down and luckily somehow it went over. We got to recover it."
