GUNTUR, India, June 6 (UPI) -- Security cameras at an Indian jewelry store captured the moment a monkey stole a fistful of cash from a drawer and fled with about $144.

The video, filmed May 23 by security cameras at the store in Guntur district, shows the monkey throw a guava into the store and then dart inside the door when a man opens it to give the fruit back to the sneaky simian.

The store owner said the monkey was inside the store for about 20 minutes, jumping from one surface to another, before he opened the cash drawer and made off with about $144.

"We also tried offering him banana, but he perhaps knew he could buy truckloads of banana with those piece of papers," the uploader quoted a store worker as saying.
