Police shared photo of the cold and starving sea lion pup, whose condition seemed to improve after attempting to warm itself up while spending time with the officers.
The officers stayed with the pup and made sure it didn't enter oncoming traffic, as they waited for the Marine Mammal Center to come out and rescue the animal.
The sea lion and the officers developed a bond during their time together as they named the pup "George Bison" in reference to the call sign for officers assigned to Richmond Station and their softball team's mascot the bison.
