WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., May 25 (UPI) -- The high tech capabilities of a fully automated parking structure in a California city were on display during a grand opening ceremony.

The city of West Hollywood held a ceremony Tuesday to officially unveil the Automated Garage and Community Plaza at West Hollywood City Hall.

The ceremony, which included DJs and appearances by public officials, celebrates the structure officially opening for public use June 1.

The city created a video to show off the process used by the garage, which uses computer-run machines to park cars without the need for help from the driver.

"The garage requires a much smaller physical footprint than would a conventional parking structure with a similar capacity. The space savings nets more than 7,000 square feet for a Community Plaza and entry service area that will be used for community events," the city said in a news release.
