JERUSALEM, May 23 (UPI) -- A nest cam set up to spy on a family of long-legged buzzards in Israel captured the moment a dive-bombing owl knocked one of the birds out of the nest.

The Israel Nestcam project, a collaboration between several wildlife groups in the country, shared footage from the May 5 livestream showing the mother buzzard and her four young chicks settling down for the night in their cliff-side nest.

After the mother buzzard appears to go to sleep, an eagle owl swoops in out of the darkness and attempts to grab one of the smaller buzzards.

The situation seemed grim for the young bird, but officials confirmed the eagle succeeded only in knocking the buzzard out of the nest and it was seen returning to the nest the following day.
