WEST MONROE, La., May 6 (UPI) -- A Louisiana middle school is being applauded for honoring a student's service dog with her own photo in the yearbook.

Lori Ware said officials at Good Hope Middle School in West Monroe asked her son, Joseph "Seph" Ware, 14, if he would like to have his service dog, Presley, photographed for her own spot in the yearbook.

Ware told AL.com her son's response was: "Why not?"

Ware shared a picture on Facebook of the dog pictured with her leash in her mouth next to the photo of Seph, who was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at the age of 3.

"Seph says that it took about 10 minutes to get Presley to look at the camera -- and who knows how many shots," Ware said.

Ware praised school administrators for their acceptance of Presley, who has been Seph's service dog for about four years.

"We have had issues with his elementary school accepting Presley, so to come to Good Hope and her to be welcomed has been very refreshing," Ware said. "The kids adore her and she loves the attention."
