Suspected bomb at German casino turns out to be a sex toy

HALBERSTADT, Germany, April 6 (UPI) -- A German casino and several surrounding buildings were evacuated due to a trash bin emanating strange noises that turned out to be a male-oriented sex toy.

Police said an employee of the gambling den in Halberstadt alerted police to strange ticking and humming noises coming from a trash bin in the men's bathroom Tuesday and about 90 people were evacuated from the casino and surrounding businesses.

A bomb disposal team was summoned to the scene and the alert was called off when the investigators determined the cause of the suspicious sounds -- a mechanical penis ring that had its vibration function activated.

"This is something I have never seen in 36 years on the force, that just tops everything," Police Chief Superintendent Peter Woede told German newspaper Volksstimme.

Woede said gambling hall workers were right to call police, as the situation could have been something much worse.
