Bloomfield said the scene appeared at a distance to be a person walking down the middle of the road with a vehicle behind it flashing its hazard lights.
"As it got closer, I saw that it was a giant moose," he told Boston.com.
Belchertown Animal Control Officer Anna Fenton praised the motorists in the video for giving the moose space.
"Slow down and let it go where it's going," Fenton said. "You really don't want to startle it and spook it because you don't know what it's going to do. It could wind up running into oncoming traffic."
