Australian dad finds venomous spider in shoe left outside

PERTH, Australia, March 9 (UPI) -- An Australian dad whose son life his shoes outside overnight shared a video showing the eight-legged reason such shoes should always be checked.

The video, posted to YouTube by user Modest Hyperbole, features footage of the Western Australia father checking his son's shoes after they were left outside overnight.

"This is why you should always check them [shoes] before putting them back on," the man says in the video.

The father gives the inside of the shoe a few good sprays with an aerosol can and gives a close-up view of the webs inside the sneaker.

The man then uses a stick to poke the inside of the shoe to drive out the squatter, a large spider.

"Welcome to Australia," the man says.

The father said he recognized the spider's species.

"Commonly referred to as a window spider, she is not deadly, but her bite still would pack a punch," he wrote online. "Always check your shoes."
