RESTON, Va., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Virginia firefighters shared a dramatic video showing the rescue of a frightened dog that fell through the ice of a frozen lake.
The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department posted video to Facebook showing the 75-pound dog, Angel, with just her two front paws keeping her head above the frigid water Wednesday morning after falling through thin ice on Lake Thoreau in Reston.
Rescuers carefully approach the frightened canine and are eventually able to get their arms around her.
Angel was carried back to shore and reunited with her owner, who said the dog was cold but uninjured by her ordeal.
Firefighters said Angel was out of the water within 10 minutes of the call that brought them to the scene.
