ZHUKOVSKY, Russia, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- A Russian tow truck crew's attempt to extract a car trapped in a large pot hole ended in disaster when the rear half of the car was yanked free from the front half.

Video of the towing attempt in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, shows a car with its front end trapped in a large hole in the road and its rear end elevated in the air.

The tow truck crew attaches the rescue vehicle's hook to the rear end of the car and attempts to pull it free from the hole.

The car refuses to budge during the first couple of pulling attempts, and finally the rear half of the car -- including the back bumper and rear wheels -- are pulled away from the rest of the car.

The back half of the vehicle remains tenuously connected to the front, but the car appears to be destroyed beyond repair by the towing attempt.
