NEW YORK, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- New York firefighters shared video of an injured red-tailed hawk being rescued from a third-floor air conditioning unit.

The FDNY tweeted a video Thursday showing firefighter Robert Horvath, a licensed wildlife rehabilitation, climbing a ladder to rescue an injured red-tailed hawk stranded on the third-floor air conditioner outside a Manhattan building.

Horwath was able to catch the hawk in a long net and bring it safely to the ground.

The department tweeted a photo of Horwath holding the injured hawk, which officials said will be rehabilitated and released.

A second video shared on Twitter offered a close-up view of Horwath atop the ladder with the hawk.
