CAPE COD , Mass., Dec. 26 (UPI) -- Massachusetts firefighters performed a Christmas rescue after receiving a call about a raccoon trapped in a storm drain.

The raccoon was trapped underneath a storm drain its head sticking through one of the grates, as seen in a photo posted Joint Base Cape Cod Firefighters' Facebook page.

A man discovered the animal while out walking his dog on Christmas morning.

Firefighters responded to the scene and were able to remove the raccoon from the drain without causing any injury.

"It was a good Christmas for the raccoon," a post on the fire department's Facebook page read.
