Police have encouraged residents to be on the lookout for the distinct disguises and suspect that they culprits may have discarded them after completing the heist.

"We are keen to trace these items of clothing," Sally Hewitt of Louth Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team said. "Plesae can we ask that local residents check their bins and areas surrounding their property to see if any items of clothing which could have possibly been worn by the offenders have been discarded."

Lincolnshire Police Inspector Colin Hague stressed the seriousness of the incident despite the lighthearted disguises and expressed confidence that local witnesses would be able to identify the robbers.

"Even though it was very cold last night, I'm sure there were still people in the town center who might have seen two males running through Louth town centre in panda onesies," he told BBC.
