"The Great Sleeping Bear" sleeping bag was inspired by a statue of the same name that Ishikawa sculpted after hearing the story of a wild bear that was put down in Bavaria in 2006.
Each sleeping bag was handmade and doubled as a bear costume when fully zipped up, contributing to the $2,350 price tag.
Despite being sold in limited quantities in 2013, " The Great Sleeping Bear" recently found new life, as several Japanese Twitter accounts began posting about the extravagant sleeping bag.
This viral resurgence is consistent with Ishikawa's original idea for the product, as she encouraged people who purchased the sleeping bag to send her photos of them wearing it to be compiled in a collage. She also requested to anonymously track the location of the buyers in order to create an image of their locations on a map.
