KANGAROO VALLEY, Australia, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A pair of Australian red bellied black snakes were caught on video in a "deadly snake dance" that saw the two serpents braiding themselves together.

The video, posted to YouTube, shows the two venomous snakes twisting together in a double helix shape in what the uploader described as a "deadly snake dance" or "tango" but may have also been a mating ritual.

The "dance" comes to an end when one of the snakes slithers off with the second serpent in hot pursuit.
