CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- The city of Calgary, Alberta, celebrated the end of public pool season by inviting local canines to cool off with a Dog Day event.

The Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pools Association closed its seven public pools for the season Monday and allowed canine customers to enjoy a cool dip in the water before the facilities were drained.

The association said the fourth annual Dog Day event raised about $800 for the Calgary Humane Society.

Officials said the pools will be thoroughly cleaned before reopening next summer.
