WYANDOTTE, Mich., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Police in Michigan said a 16-year-old girl is under investigation after she allegedly faked a pregnancy with triplets using a website called "Fake a Baby."

Wyandotte police said they are investigating after the girl spent 10 months claiming to be pregnant with triplets and backed up her story with fake pregnancy bellies and fake ultrasound pictures that were found to have come from prank website fakeababy.com.

Police said the girl's actions may have been criminal because she collected thousands of dollars worth of gifts and donations during her pregnancy hoax.

The girl's boyfriend, Jordan, 16, and his family said they were suspicious when the girl refused to allow them to talk to her doctor and they decided to contact authorities when the girl told them she had lost the babies one day before her scheduled Caesarian section.

"So, I told the hotline she has three babies that she's supposed to be full term with, and she won't go to the hospital and they don't have heartbeats. So, they sent detectives over there and she finally cracked and told the detectives that she lost them at six weeks," Jordan's aunt, Jessica Adams, told WJBK-TV.

The family said they are questioning whether the girl was ever pregnant in the first place.

Police said they are looking into whether the girl's parents were in on the hoax.
