Drone user finds man sunbathing atop wind turbine

PORTSMOUTH, R.I., Aug. 28 (UPI) -- A man vacationing in Rhode Island decided to take a drone video of a wind turbine and discovered a man sunbathing on top.

Kevin, the man who uploaded the video to Vimeo, said he was visiting Rhode Island with his girlfriend when he decided to take a drone video of a wind turbine at the Portsmouth Abbey Monastery and School while it was not in operation.

The uploader said he decided to use his drone for "a straight flight up to show the height" of the turbine, and when his drone reached the top he discovered a man sunbathing atop the structure.

"The guy must have been napping because he did not notice the drone for 5-10 seconds, but once he heard it he sat up to take a look," Kevin wrote.

Kevin said on Reddit he later learned the man atop the turbine was Brother Joseph, "one of the Benedictine monks that live on campus."

"He likes to take students up the windmill when the weather's nice, and goes up there a lot in the summer to pray and reflect," he wrote.
