ROCHESTER, Mich., Aug. 3 (UPI) -- A Michigan police officer with a fearless nose was recorded by his dashboard camera freeing a baby skunk with its head stuck in a yogurt cup.

The Rochester Police Department shared a video on its Facebook page showing Officer Merlin Taylor's response to a Sunday call about a baby skunk in distress.

The video shows Taylor arrive to find the skunk running blindly around the road with a yogurt cup stuck on its head.

The officer gets out of his car, dons a rubber glove and carefully approaches the skunk.

Taylor quickly pulls the cup from the animal's head and runs a safe distance before turning and facing the seemingly confused baby.

The department said it was more than luck and gratitude that spared Taylor from the skunk's stink: "Luckily baby skunks can't spray like adults!"

A police officer never knows what the day will bring. Officer Taylor was called to the 400 block of W. Third St. this morning for a baby skunk with its head stuck in an empty yogurt container. Luckily baby skunks can't spray like adults! Well done Officer Taylor!
