NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., July 7 (UPI) -- A California man recording drone footage of a humpback whale captured the moment the leviathan made its own rainbow by shooting water from its blowhole.

Mark Girardeau, riding in Capt. Royce Hutain's boat Sunday off the coast of Newport Beach, captured footage of the humpback whale creating its own rainbow by blowing water into the sunlight.

"A humpback whale producing a nice rainbow off the coast of Newport Beach. Capt. Royce Hutain was the captain of his boat while I flew my aerial camera and Jason Anderson had a second aerial camera," Girardeau wrote in the video's YouTube description.

Girardeau wrote on Instagram that he was impressed with the whale at the end of the rainbow.

"I'd say that's better than a pot of gold," he wrote.
