CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 2 (UPI) -- Bubble wrap just lost a little of its fun after its maker, Sealed Air Corp., announced a new, pop-free version. But don't worry, the noisy wrap will still be around.

Sealed Air Corp. introduced a new line of bubble wrap it's calling iBubble. The packaging material takes up about one-fiftieth of the space of traditional bubble wrap, making it cheaper to ship and easier to store.

IBubble looks like bubble wrap but is completely flat. Customers use a pump -- which at first will cost about $5,500 -- to inflate iBubble before using it for shipping. Once inflated, iBubble won't burst or make a satisfying popping noise.

Sealed Air Corp. hopes to reduce the cost of the pump to $1,000 by 2017, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Even though the company is hoping its new product will take off with customers, it doesn't plan to completely eliminate the bubble wrap we all love. Communications Director Ken Aurichio told Quartz traditional bubble wrap is here to stay.

"You should not be worried," he said. "Bubble wrap hasn't gone anywhere."
