PORT TOWNSEND, Wash., June 30 (UPI) -- A Washington state man shared video of a mother raccoon teaching her reluctant youngster how to climb a tree.

The video, shared on YouTube by Jeffrey Reid, features the mother raccoon in Reid's Port Townsend yard pushing her apparently unwilling cub into learning how to scale a tree.

The cub struggles with the mother raccoon and repeatedly appears to be attempting to flee the tree in favor of the seemingly safer rooftop.

The mother is eventually able to get the youngster to grab hold of the tree bark and support its own climb.
