SISIMIUT, Greenland, June 9 (UPI) -- A Greenland man discovered snowmobiles are only intended for use on frozen water when he rode out to sea and his vehicle sank.

A video of the incident, posted to YouTube by Ulrik Motzfeldt, shows the man riding across the thin ice covering part of the harbor in Sisimiut, throwing liquid water into the air in his wake.

The man, apparently emboldened by his success on the ice, then rides the snowmobile out into open water, where it initially appears to successfully propel itself, but sinks after only a few seconds.

The man is rescued by a nearby boat, but his snowmobile appears to be a loss.
