Chinese goalie fined for missing goal during water break

Sui Weijie apologized to his team, Chongqing Lifan, in private after missing the goal during Sunday's game.

CHONGQING, China, May 26 (UPI) -- A Chinese Super League soccer goalie is being fined $8,064 after the opposing team scored a goal while he was having a drink of water.

Sui Weijie, goalkeeper for the Chongqing Lifan team, was sipping on his water bottle next to the goal during Sunday's game when Ding Haifeng, a midfielder for Lianoning Whowin, kicked the ball into the untended goal.

Sui, who apologized to the team in private, was fined $8,064 for missing the goal, which cost Chongqing their lead and led to the game finishing in a tie.
