ORLANDO, Fla., April 21 (UPI) -- A University of Central Florida student under the influence of LSD attacked colleagues and pulled a fire alarm before being tased and subdued by campus police, according to reports.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon when a shoeless and shirtless John Kane, 21, was detained by UCF police outside the Orlando campus's John C. Hitt Library.

Multiple witnesses said Kane had minutes previously acted erratic inside the library.

Student Raquel Petersen said Kane had approached her and said he was not feeling well.

"He came up to me because he was scared," Petersen told Knight News. "You could tell he didn't know where he was. He was looking around and started repeating things."

Petersen said Kane told her he was on LSD, or "lysergic acid diethylamide," a psychedelic drug known for causing hallucinations.

On Monday, UCF police spokeswoman Courtney Gilmartin confirmed that Kane told officers he was on the drug.

Petersen said she saw Kane punch two students while she was on the phone with police.

"He was saying he was on fire," Student Heidi Hill told Knight News. "He pulled the fire alarm. My friend and I, we looked out the window and saw all the cops coming. We went out the back door."

Police body camera footage shows Kane comply with orders to get on the ground, but he begins to struggle and scream when an officer tries to handcuff him.

"He was doing exactly what we asked at first. I put him on the ground, put his hands behind his back. He was not combative," UCF Police Supervisor Erik Lanshinsky told the Central Florida Future. "As soon as I attempted to handcuff him for everybody's safety, that's when he became combative."

The officer used his stun gun in an attempt to subdue Kane, but it ended up taking three or four officers to gain control over him.

According to Knight News, before being carted away strapped to a stretcher, Kane said, "Bring me to Florida!"

Charges are pending against Kane, who as of Monday was issued a student affairs referral from UCF's Office of Student Conduct.

Student David Richards told the CFF he had weeks previously seen Kane acting "super drunk" at a Lazy Moon pizza on campus, and that after being kicked out, "he screamed, 'I'll show you a lazy moon!' and mooned everyone through the window."
