MIAMI, April 21 (UPI) -- A news camera was rolling when firefighters battling a brush fire southwest of Miami rescued a cat found hiding in a beer box.

Roger Lohse, a reporter for WPLG-TV, was delivering a report on the fire Monday when firefighters emerged behind him, carrying a small black kitten wrapped in a towel.

The firefighters said the kitten has been hiding in a Modelo Beer box near the fire.

A firefighter told Lohse the cat was "going right back in the box" and would be going home with her.

The Florida Division of Forestry said Monday night the brush fire has torched more than 1,850 acres of trees and grass. Officials said frequent shifts in the wind have made it difficult to extinguish the flames and contain hot spots.
