Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., March 2 (UPI) -- The National Weather Service released a video showing how hail turned a southern California beach into a "Winter Wonderland" on Monday morning. The video, taken from the Huntington Beach Pier, showed what appears to be snow -- but was confirmed by lifeguards to be pea-size hail -- transforming the beach from an expanse of yellow sand to a white "Winter Wonderland." Advertisement The NWS said about half an inch of hail fell on the beach Monday morning. A winter weather advisory for Orange County and the surrounding area was issued by the NWS Friday and was scheduled to expire at 6 p.m. Monday.
