Helmet cam captures snowboarder's avalanche encounter

GORJ, Romania, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- A snowboarding instructor who strapped a GoPro camera to his helmet before his trip down Papusa Mountain recorded himself being swept up in an avalanche.

Sorin-Alexandru Radu, a snowboarding instructor with Sliders School, said he strapped the GoPro Hero 3 camera to his helmet prior to his trip down the mountain Feb. 3 and both the camera and snowboarder ended up unharmed when they were buried in an avalanche.

Pictures posted to Sliders School's Facebook account showed Radu grinning with the camera still strapped to his helmet after digging his way out of the snow.
