NORWICH, England, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- A bus driver who accidentally turned down a closed road ended up having to make a 140-point turn that was caught on camera by the manager of a nearby store.

The First bus turned down a Norwich, England, street Monday and the driver soon discovered there was no room for the vehicle to pass.

The bus then spent the next three minutes making a 140-point turn in the narrow road while pedestrians helped to guide it.

The incident was caught on camera by Andy Manley, manager at the nearby Norwich Computers store.

"We saw this bus coming up here. There was another car turning round and the bus came over to the left, turned round and before you knew it there were people trying to help the driver reverse it. He reversed into the sign over the road," Manley told Norwich Evening News 24.

A First spokesman said drivers will be given the details of detours in the area.

"We can confirm that one of our buses drove along Magdalen Street on Tuesday, January 27 as the diversion signs were placed to read 'No access for any vehicles except buses,'" the spokesman said.

"We issue staff notices to all of our drivers in advance of roadworks, advising them of the diversion and the diversion route. However, in instances like this, our drivers obey signage on the roads."

A Norwich City Hall spokesman said the signs will be "adjusted to eliminate any ambiguity."
